Empire Announce Coach

ALBANY- Albany Empire announce that Tom Menas has been named as the team's head coach effective immediately. Per League and team rules, terms are not disclosed.
Menas comes to Albany from the IFL Green Bay Blizzard, where he served as their Offensive/Defensive Line and Special Teams Coach. Prior to the IFL, Menas served as a head coach for both the Oakland County Racers as well as Oakland University, where he led the team to a National Championship. With an overall record of 23-1 at Oakland University, he was named coach of the year. Menas spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts as there Defensive Line Coach, and in the AFL with the Detroit Fury as their Linebackers and Running backs Coach. He helped lead the Fury to a playoff berth in their inaugural season.
"The Times Union Center is excited to welcome Coach Menas," said General Manager Bob Belber. "He has tremendous experience between the IFL, CFL and AFL, and we can't wait to see the excitement that he brings to the field in Albany."
