Eight QMJHL players invited to take part in National Junior Team evaluation camp

MONTREAL, Monday, December 4, 2006 - During press conferences held simultaneously in Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal this afternoon, Hockey Canada announced the names of the 38 players invited to participate in the final evaluation camp of Canada's National Junior team.

Eight players from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League were selected to take part in the final phase. They are Mathieu Perreault of the Titan, Kristopher Letang and Brad Marchand of the Foreurs, Angelo Esposito of the Remparts, Jonathan Bernier and Marc-André Cliche of the MAINEiacs, Claude Giroux of the Olympiques and Luc Bourdon of the Wildcats.

During the press conference, the Commissioner of the QMJHL, Gilles Courteau, wished to thank the league's clubs: "I would like to thank the clubs for giving the players the opportunity to participate in this world-class event. Also, I'd like to wish both the players and the coaches the best of luck."

Furthermore, Clément Jodoin, an assistant coach on Canada's national junior squad, underlined the importance of the IIHF World Junior Championship: "I'd like the players to enjoy this experience and I invite them to work hard to make the club. It's a chance to represent your country and to profit from a great experience."
