Hamilton Nationals News Release

TORONTO - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced those players who have been selected to play in the eighth annual MLL All-Star Game, which takes place at Denver's INVESCO Field at Mile High on Thursday, July 16th at 10:00 p.m. EST.

While the League has implemented an "East" vs. "West" format for the past two seasons, this year's game will return to the "Old School" vs. "Young Guns" format which was featured in the 2005 All-Star Game. The "Young Guns" squad is comprised of players that entered the league or were drafted from 2007-2009 classes, while the "Old School" squad will be made up by those players signing to an MLL team prior to and including 2006.

The Denver Outlaws and Toronto Nationals lead all teams with eight players apiece named to the All-Star Game.

From the Nationals roster, midfielder Joe Walters and defenceman Brodie Merrill will take the field for the "Old School", and attackman Merrick Thomson, midfielders Jordan Levine and Jordan Hall, defencemen Joe Cinosky and rookie Sid Smith, as well as goaltender Brett Queener will represent the Nationals on the "Young Guns" side of the field.

Toronto head coach Dave Huntley will be behind the bench for the "Young Guns" team as head coach and Chicago Machine's John Combs will serve as the assistant coach.

Denver Outlaws attacker Brendan Mundorf, who currently leads the League in scoring with 24 points, along with midfielders Brian Langtry and Kyle Harrison, and defenceman Lee Zink will represent the Outlaws on the "Old School" team. Drew Westervelt, Max Seibald, Matt Bocklett, and goalie Jesse Schwartzman will suit up for the "Young Guns". Denver head coach Brian Reese and his assistant coaches Trevor Tierney and Bill Edell will coach the "Old School" team.

The Boston Cannons, Chicago Machine, and Long Island Lizards are each represented with 6 players in the game, while the Washington Bayhawks will be sending 4 players to Denver.

The 2009 MLL All-Star Game begins at 10:00 p.m. EST and will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and TSN2 with Joe Beninati and Quint Kessenich calling the action. Halftime will include the Bud Light Skills Competition. Participants for the Skills Competition events will be announced at a later date.
