Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release

Washington, PA-Rookie Catcher Taylor Edwards drove in three runs, to carry the Pennsylvania Rebellion to victory over Monica Abbott, one of the league's elite pitchers, and the Chicago Bandits 3-1 on Monday at CONSOL Energy Park.

Edwards, who collected three RBI's on two hits, delivered the game-winning hit, a two-run bomb in the bottom of the fifth and defensively threw out two baserunners in the team's eighth victory on the season.

A solo shot by Bandits center fielder Megan Wiggins gave the visitors a 1-0 lead off Rebellion starter Tatum Edwards but such lead was short-lived as reliever Angel Bunner shut down the Bandits offense for the rest of the contest. Chicago mustered just one hit off of Bunner, who allowed no earned runs, and walked none during her 3 2/3 innings of work.

With bases full of Bandits and one out in the top of the fourth, Bunner pitched her way out of a jam to set the stage for Edwards in the bottom half of the frame. Edwards drove a two and two pitch over the fence in left field to put the Rebellion ahead 2-1.

The Rebellion gained an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth as Edwards hit a clutch two-out RBI single to score pinch runner Ashley Carter, for a 3-1 score.

Abbott suffered the loss as she threw a complete game, allowed six hits, surrendered just three walks and struck out nine batters.

The Bandits and Rebellion wrap up their six-game series Tuesday at CONSOL Energy Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game can be viewed live on the CBS Sports Network and in-game updates can be followed on Twitter @PARebellion.
