PORTLAND, Ore. - Monday morning, the West Coast League announced its Baker Tilly Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for June 15-21.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: David Sheppard, Edmonton Riverhawks

Sheppard was brilliant in his start at Wenatchee, Thursday. Against the North Division co-leader, the southpaw spun seven shutout innings while striking out six. He retired 11 straight hitters from the third through the sixth innings and recorded 12 ground ball outs.

The Utah Tech product did not allow a runner past second base.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Zach Wadas, Ridgefield Raptors

Wadas helped the South Division leader Raptors to a 5-1 week by going 9 for 24 (.375) at the plate with two doubles and three home runs. The outfielder from Loyola Marymount knocked in 10 runs, walked five times, scored two runs and stole two bases.

He finished the week with an .833 slugging percentage and 1.316 OPS. Wadas narrowly edged out Sawyer Nelson from the Marion Berries, who posted a .697 on-base percentage thanks to 17 walks. He has earned 34 free passes this season, a record for the second-year team, and is 14 shy of the WCL single-season record.
