Edmonton Series Ends In 8-6 Defeat

Edmonton, Canada-The Tucson Toros committed three errors leading five unearned runs that proved to be decisive in their 8-6 defeat at the hands of the Edmonton Capitals. Catcher Dylan Parzyk made two errors and Second Baseman Skip Adams added one of his own and recently acquired righthander Jose Lima capitalized for the Capitals.

Tucson got to Lima for six runs but former big leaguer was able to survive seven innings, just long enough for Edmonton to break a 6-6 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Tucson starter Toby Nordman gave up six runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks, but left with a no decision.

The Toros pen combined to throw four innings, allowing just two unearned runs. Lefty Chris Luera was perfect for 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts. Righty Jordan Muir was flawless for one inning, recording one strikeout. Danny Greenwalt was saddled with a loss to fall to 1-1 after defense miscues led to two unearned runs to score in the bottom of the seventh.

Shortstop Ryan Priddy and First Baseman Dustin Yount both had strong games at the plate for Tucson. Priddy went 2-for-3 with a run, 3 RBI and his 12th double of the season. Yount scored a run and drove in two with two hits, including his 7th bomb.

The Toros will have an off day Monday as the travel to Calgary where they will take on the Vipers for a three game series beginning Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. Tucson time.
