Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Edinburg Roadrunners handed the Shreveport Sports their third consecutive loss winning Sunday at Fair Grounds Field 8-3.
Edinburg took a 1-0 lead over the Sports in the second inning on an RBI single by Joe Contreras, but the Sports came back to take the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a three-run home run by first baseman Joe Dusan and the Sports led 3-1.
However, in the fourth inning, the Roadrunners scored three runs off losing pitcher Trey Poland (0-1), who was making his first professional appearance in two years after shoulder surgery had put him on the shelf.
As they had done in the first two wins, Edinburg added another big inning in the fifth inning scoring four runs off Sports relief pitcher Levi Ferguson which gave them a final margin of 8-3.
The Sports will now open a three game series Monday at Fair Grounds Field against Ft. Worth. Game time will be 7:05pm.
Final again, Edinburg 8 Shreveport 3
