Edinburg Defeats Sports, 10-5

The Edinburg Roadrunners came up with another come from behind win Saturday night at Fair Grounds Field with a 10-5 victory over the Shreveport Sports.

After the Sports took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Roadrunners scored a run with a triple by Alph Coleman and an error by Sports centerfielder Ryan Rothe enabled Coleman to score.

The Sports added another run in the fifth, but in the sixth Edinburg Aaron Sisk hit a three run home run to tie the game at 4-4. The Roadrunners then scored four runs in the seventh inning without a hit as losing pitcher Jason Slania (0-1) gave up two walks, hit two batters, an error in the inning and an infield out gave Edinburg the lead 8-4.

Edinburg salted the game away in the ninth inning when Vince Moore connected on a two run home run.

The victory for Edinburg pushed their record to 2-1 while the Sports fell to 1-2 before the largest crowd of the series of 2,076 at Fair Grounds Field.

The two teams will close out the four game series Sunday at 4:05 pm with Shreveport native Trey Poland going to mound for the Sports.
