Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Edge have signed a pair of players new to the team: wide receiver Aaron Higdon and defensive back Curtis Thomas.
Higdon (5'8, 190 - Charleston) comes to the Edge for his indoor season after playing for both the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (2012) and Green Bay Blizzard (2013) in addition to signing with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2010. With the Steelhawks, Higdon proved to be a versatile threat as caught 31 passes for 425 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 52 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries. In five appearances for Green Bay in 2013, Higdon notched 156 yards on and a pair of touchdowns on 11 receptions.
Higdon had an illustrious college football career for the University of Charleston (D2). Over the course of four seasons for the Golden Eagles, Higdon rushed for 1,132 and 11 touchdowns (113 attempts) while catching 28 passes for 559 yards and five touchdowns. For his efforts as senior in 2009, Higdon as named Second Team All-WVIAC as a running back and earned Honorable Mention All-WVIAC honors as a kick returner.

Thomas (6'0, 215 - Texas Southern) comes to the Edge for his second season playing indoor football. He last played in 2012 for the Green Bay Blizzard and Sioux Falls Storm, both of the Indoor Football League. Appearing in six games for the Blizzard, Thomas made 15 tackles in addition to two interceptions before being traded to Sioux Falls.
Prior to his time in the IFL, Thomas played three seasons at Texas Southern University after transferring from the University of Minnesota. In 36 collegiate appearances, Thomas recorded 165 tackles and 10 interceptions. For his efforts as a junior in 2010, Thomas was named a First Team All-SWAC defensive back.
"I truly believe that I can be a major asset to the team both at safety and on special teams. Bloomington is an organization that is no stranger to indoor football and has been around quite some time and that makes it even better to be a part of," Thomas reflected. "My goal is to help us make it to the championship and help the secondary become one of the best in all of indoor football, which I believe we can do."
