Edge Sign Local Standout, Announce 2014 Schedule

A local standout running back has signed to play professionally in his hometown with Bloomington Edge indoor football.

Darrelynn Dunn was a consistent 1,000-yard rusher with Illinois State University, Iowa Central Community College and Bloomington High School. In the 2012 ISU season, the 6-1, 220-pounder became the 12th Redbird ever to reach that plateau with 1,015 yards on 266 carries. His 13 rushing touchdowns last season tied him for fifth all-time on the ISU single-season list. Dunn also caught 23 passes for 125 yards last season as a Redbird.

Dunn was a Second Team All-America selection while at Iowa Central Community College in his second campaign there in 2010 after rolling up 1,321 rushing yards with 19 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,113 yards with 12 touchdowns during his senior season at Bloomington High School in 2008 and was selected to play in the Illinois Coaches Association Shrine All-Star game after that campaign.

Also this week, the Champions Professional Indoor Football League released its 2014 schedule. The Edge will open the season with a pair of games on the road, beginning March 7 in Salina, Kansas and March 14 at Lincoln, Nebraska followed by the first of six home games on Saturday, March 29 against long-time rival Omaha Beef.
