Edge Ready to Defy Law, Honor Christofilakos Saturday

The Bloomington Edge host a new member of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League this Saturday as they honor a local indoor football fixture.
The Edge face the Dodge City Law at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Before the game, the team will retire the jersey of kicker Peter Christofilakos, who provided the leg Bloomington indoor football teams relied upon for the first seven seasons.
The Edge (0-3) have lost the last two games by a combined four points, most recently in a 70-69 loss to the Omaha Beef last Saturday in Bloomington. LaVaughn Macon registered 219 return yards in the game, breaking his own league record and earning him CPIFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Bloomington owns the league's top passing attack with 195.3 yards per game, led by quarterback Charles Dowdell's 612 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and a 95.2 quarterback rating. Leading receiver Marcus Lewis has caught 21 passes for 308 yards and six touchdowns and averages 102.7 receving yards per game. Cody Acree has 21 tackles to lead the Edge defense.
The Law (2-2) handed the Salina Bombers their first loss last week with a 34-31 triumph and defeated Omaha 61-35 in the season opener for their other victory. The Law's Jecorey Quarterman is the league's current Defensive Player of the Week while Walner Leandre leads the squad with 39 tackles. Charles McCullum has completed 60 percent of his passes for 388 yards and 10 touchdowns with Brandon Venson catching 17 passes for 208 yards and four touchdowns. D.D. Holyfield has rushed for 174 yards and five touchdowns.
