FC Edmonton News Release

EDMONTON - A visit from league-leading Miami FC sets the stage for a terrific finale to FC Edmonton's 2017 North American Soccer League (NASL) home schedule at Clarke Stadium on Saturday, October 21. Kickoff is at 7:00PM and the match can be streamed on NASL.com and Facebook Live.

Two-straight draws for the Eddies against playoff-chasing opposition in the New York Cosmos and Jacksonville Armada FC over the span of five days precedes the visit from Miami, who have been dominant during the 2017 NASL season with 19 victories and having already clinched first-place and top seed in the Championship, the league's four-team postseason tournament.

A festive atmosphere and another healthy crowd at Clarke Stadium today awaits as the Eddies look to break their five-game losing streak against Miami, also failing to score in that time against manager Alessandro Nesta's men. FC Edmonton striker Jake Keegan's second goal of the season on Wednesday night in Jacksonville erased a three-game scoreless streak and five matches without a goal or point against the Armada, and the Eddies are hungry to snap another streak this weekend with the help of a rockus home crowd.

"We want to finish as positively as possible," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller said. "There's nine points still to play for and the objective is to get all of them. It's terrific we get an opportunity here to play in front of our home fans hoping to build on two positive performances away.

"We all know we've underachieved this season and that's been hugely disappointing considering the quality of players we have, so the guys know a good performance tomorrow night in front of our home crowd against the best team in the league is exactly what the doctor ordered here at this stage of the season. The fans this season have been fabulous and right behind the team."

The matchup between the Eddies and Miami is boosted with the attendance of two-time bronze medalists and Canadian Women's National Team players Desiree Scott and Melissa Tancredi, who come to Clarke Stadium as headliners for Girls in Soccer Night II after the earlier success of its first rendition back on May 27. A sold-out crowd that night watched the Eddies down the Indy Eleven 2-1 as FC Edmonton look to create another memorable, exciting night full of soccer, celebrities and fans.

The first 500 girls through the gate Saturday night will receive a pink 'Girls in Soccer' t-shirt, and all girls are invited on the pitch at half-time for a photo with Desiree Scott & Melissa Tancredi! Don't forget to get autographs from our special guests before the match and at half-time and from the players on the pitch after the final whistle blows! Tickets are available at tickets.fcedmonton.com.
