AUSTIN, Texas (www.austinaztex.com) - Eddie Johnson scored both the Austin Aztex goals on Saturday night to lift the visitors over the Miami FC Blues, 2-1, at Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Johnson kicked off the scoring just before halftime with a ball he managed to settle in the box ahead of firing it past a diving Caleb Patterson into the right side of the net. The goal sent the Aztex into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

The lead would hold throughout the second half and seemingly end the game with the Aztex up 1-0, but Paulo Jr. had other ideas in the 85th minute when he sent a laser into the back of the Aztex net from the top left side of the box to tie the score at 1.

Moments later Peri Marsovic gathered the ball in the box and looked to make a move before being tackled by a Blues defender, forcing the referee to grant Austin a penalty kick. Johnson lined up for the penalty and calmly put it in net for his second goal of the night, and eighth of the season.

The match would end with the Aztex down one man after Leonard Griffin was handed a red card for a run in with a Blues midfielder.

Aztex goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo kept the Blues attack in check, making multiple sparkling saves and picking up his league high ninth win.

With the victory, Austin picked up its ninth win in its past 13 games and gave the team its 30th point on the season - eight more than its next closes competition.

Austin's next game comes at 7:30 next Saturday night at House Park when it takes on the Puerto Rico Islanders in a rematch of the Aztex June 5 victory.
