Ed Williams Joins RNY FC on Loan from Doncaster Rovers

When Jamie Vardy joined David and Wendy Dworkin's Rochester Rhinos ownership group, fans in Rochester and across social media began to speculate about the possible impact Vardy could have on the club.

On February 3rd, 2022 Rochester New York Football Club began to turn that speculation into reality when they announced that Ed Williams had joined the club on loan from Doncaster Rovers in England.

In the 27-year history of the club, Williams becomes the first player from the English Football League to ever join up on loan.

RNY FC Head coach Bruno Baltazar believes that the former international England C midfielder will have an immediate impact on the side with not only his talent, but also his knowledge and experience.

"Ed is a highly experienced and versatile attacking wide midfielder bringing his knowledge from English football to the team. He is an unpredictable and talented player."

Williams himself is looking for hard work to yield a successful start to the season when he joins up with RNY FC later this month in Rochester, New York.

"I'm delighted to join RNY FC and to start a new chapter for myself and the club. Having spoken to Lee, Bruno and Gui, I'm looking forward to working hard with everyone and having a successful start to the season."

RNY FC Sporting Director Dr. Lee Tucker believes that the contribution of Ed Williams the player on the field may only be superseded by the contributions of Ed Williams the person off the field.

"We are getting a top person and player in Ed Williams. He has represented England at C level and will be a leader for our younger players."

Rochester New York Football Club has signed Midfielder Ed Williams on loan from Doncaster Rovers of EFL League One, pending league, English FA, and U.S. Soccer Federation approval, in addition to his ITC and work authorization. Financial terms were not disclosed.
