East Kentucky Miners News Release

PIKEVILLE, KY. - Another player with vast professional experience has signed to play for the East Kentucky Miners. California native Joe Buck has signed to play for the Miners during the 2008-09 season.

Buck, a 6-7 forward, played for USC (University of Southern California) following an exceptional high school career. A player with Kentucky ties, Buck currently resides in Lexington. Buck made a great first impression on the Miners organization during a free agent camp held earlier in the year. Buck dominated on the glass and played with a strong inside presence during the free agent camp.

"Joe played really well at our open free agent camp," said East Kentucky Coach Keathley. "He rebounded well and did a lot of little things that impressed myself and those who were evaluating the camp."

Buck has played professionally in the United States and Canada. In his most recent professional season - the 2006 campaign - Buck played in the IBL (International Basketball League) for the Tri City Ballers. He played for the CBA's Minot Skyrockets during the 2005-06 season.

"Joe is going to be an exciting player to watch," Keathley added. "He brings a lot of energy and he's a guy that is in magnificent shape."

The Miners organization has signed seven players for the 2008-09 season. Others who have signed to play for the Miners during the upcoming season are legendary Kentucky Wildcat Wayne Turner, Jermaine Blackburn, Alonzo Hird, Mike Crain, Jason McLeish and Mike Dean. East Kentucky will open the 2008-09 season on the road Dec. 12 versus Pittsburgh.
