Charlotte Eagles News Release

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles are looking to get build off of a last minute draw against the Charleston Battery when the Chicago Fire Reserves come to town on Friday, June 14th.

Drew Yates scored in stoppage time to tie the game at 2-2 on Wednesday, June 5th against 21 year rival the Charleston Battery. Stephen Okai opened the scoring with a chip over goalkeeper Odisnal Cooper to give the Eagles an early lead. Charleston added two goals in the 2nd half to take the lead but Yates put home the equalizer late in the three minutes of added time to salvage a tough road point for the Eagles.

Charlotte is looking to get back in the win column, after getting off to a fast start with a 3-0-4 record, they only have one point in their last three league matches. With his late game goal Drew Yates became the ninth different Eagles player to score this year.

The June, 14th matchup is the first of two games against the Fire Reserves thanks to a partnership that was struck between major League Soccer and USL PRO back in January. Eagles GM Tom Engstrom talked about the partnership.

All Chicago Fire first team players along with the club's Developmental Academy and guest players are eligible for 2013 MLS Reserve League play. So fans should expect to see at least a few of the players that the Fire brought down for the US Open Cup game at Winthrop. The Fire Reserves are led by First Team assistant Leo Percovich.

The Fire Reserves last played on May, 14th against the Houston Dynamo Reserves, who were victorious 2-0. Chicago was forced to play the final 10 minutes of the match with only 10 men as Yazid Atouba was involved in a collision and the Fire coaches decided not to use their only sub left on the bench, backup goalkeeper Alec Kann.
