Charlotte Eagles News Release
Charlotte, NC -- The Charlotte Eagles are excited to announce that Midfielder Matt Gold has joined the team for the 2013 USL Pro season. Gold, 24, comes to the Eagles after having played last season with the San Antonio Scorpions of the North American Soccer League.
"Matt is a perfect fit for our organization. He is known for his character and work rate." said Men's Team General Manager Tom Engstrom. "He was the only two-time captain in Ohio State soccer history. After being named All Big-Ten First Team at Ohio State he has spent a year in Major League Soccer with Toronto FC and a year in the NASL with the San Antonio Scorpions. We are excited to see what he will bring to the Eagles on and off the field."
Gold, along with being the only two-time captain, was also a four-time letterwinner at The Ohio State University. He also added three goals and six assists while playing in 87 games over his four seasons. He was also active in Athletes in Action while at Ohio State.
