Eagles Sign Goalkeepers for 2008
April 2, 2008 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Charlotte Eagles News Release
The Charotte Eagles, Charlotte's professional soccer team confirmed the re-signing of goalkeeper Terry Boss pending international approval.
Boss, the brother of Super Bowl Champion and New York Giants' tight-end Kevin Boss, added another big victory for the family last week. Boss earned a shutout and his first international cap for the Puerto Rican National Team in a 1-0 overtime victory over The Dominican Republic in a World Cup Qualifier. Puerto Rico will now face Honduras for their next match in World Cup Qualifying.
With two quality keepers like Boss and Trapp, the Eagles are going into their 16th season feeling confident about the men guarding the net in 2008. Season Tickets are on sale now at CharlotteEagles.com as well as individual tickets to the Eagles' Opening Night at TransAmerica Field versus Bermuda at 7pm EST.
Eagles Sign Charlotte Native Kevin Trapp
Charlotte Eagles Professional Soccer announced today the signing of former Charlotte youth soccer product and goalkeeper, Kevin Trapp.
Trapp comes back to his hometown after spending his rookie season in 2007 as the starter for the Western Massachusetts Pioneers. In his first USL-2 season with the Pioneers, Trapp lead the league with 106 saves and was a 3-time USL-2 Team of the Week selection.
While at James Madison University, Trapp finished his collegiate career with 26 shutouts which ranks 2nd all-time in school history. His honors at JMU included 2006 Charlotte Jako All-Tournament Team, 2006 VCU Classic All-Tournament Team and 2005 JMU Defensive MVP.
Success at the collegiate level is not new for Trapp's family, as Kevin's father Don was a NCAA National Wrestling Champion at South Dakota State University. The Eagles will look forward to seeing that success continue in 2008 as the team prepares to open their USL-2 season against Bermuda on April 19th at UNC Charlotte's TransAmerica Field.
