
Eagles Fly to El Paso for Open Cup Debut

The Charlotte Eagles make their 2012 Lamar Hunt Open Cup debut Tuesday night in El Pasa, TX against the El Paso Patriots, a USL PDL team at 8:00 PM.
This game comes on the heals on a well fought 1-1 draw against the Wilmington Hammerheads Saturday night. After a scoreless first half, Darryl Roberts blasted a ball past Wilmington's keeper putting the Eagles up 1-0. They were able to hold on to the lead for just 18 minutes when Hagop Chirishian capitalized in the Eagles box. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. The Eagles are currently holding 8th place in the USL PRO standings with a record of 2-6-2.
The El Paso Patriots find themselves in second place in the PDL Mid South Division with a record of 1-2-1. The Patriots are coming off a tough weekend, as they lost to the Austin Aztex 6-1.
They were successful in defeating the North Texas Rayados 3-0 advancing them to the second round of the Open Cup.
The Eagles were able to make it out of the first round last season defeating the Carolina Dynamo 3-1. They fell in the second round to Wilmington 2-3.
The next Eagles home game is June 16, 2012 against the Richmond Kickers. Be sure to catch all the action at Charlotte Christian Stadium, part of a doubleheader, game starts at 8:00 PM.
