Charlotte Eagles News Release
The Lady Eagles will open the W-League season tomorrow, Friday, May 14 at 5:30 PM against the Hampton Roads Piranhas and the Eagles will take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at 8:00 PM at Charlotte Christian Stadium.
Hampton Roads (Virginia) is an affiliate of both the Hampton Roads Piranhas of the Premier Development League and the Washington Freedom of Women's Professional Soccer. The Piranhas will head to Atlanta to take on the Silverbacks on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles are led by Christy Rife (F) who has 62 career goals with the Eagles. Ashley Swinehart (F) also returns for another season with the team. Lee Horton has remained as coach of the Lady's team and looks to improve on his North Carolina Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame career.
Soccer Shots has teamed up with the Charlotte Eagles to offer all Soccer Shots participants an opportunity to go on the field at halftime of the Lady's game Friday night to score a goal on Winger - the beloved Eagles' mascot. All Soccer Shots participants (ages 3-6) will get in free, and a portion of adult tickets purchased (with Soccer Shots' flyer) by Soccer Shots parents will go towards our Global Goals campaign. Don't miss it!
The Eagles (2-2) are hoping to continue their success from last week after recording an impressive win against Harrisburg City last Friday. Debola Ogunseye (F) and Brady Bryant (D) each had goals last Friday against the Islanders and Diego Martins (M) assisted both goals last week.
Pittsburgh, currently 0-0-3 this season, is one of two undefeated teams in the league. The Riverhounds have only given up one goal so far. They are a very young team and are gunning for points. After a bye week, they are refreshed and won't go down without a fight, so come cheer on the Eagles!
Once again, Donatos Pizza will be available at the concession stand as well as delicious Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwiches. Buckwild Kettle Corn, hotdogs, and much more will also be available at all home games. Make sure to come hungry and ready to support your Charlotte Eagles!
Tickets are available for $10 at the gate for adults and $7 for kids. Tickets can also be purchased on the Eagles' website by midnight before game day for a discounted rate of $8 for adults and $5 for kids. Contact ticketsales@CharlotteEagles.com to receive a group discount of $6 for adults and $4 for kids for parties of at least 15.
