PHILADELPHIA (May 20, 2015) - For the past three seasons, head coach Clint Dolezel and quarterback Dan Raudabaugh have been working side by side. The two Texas natives have a unique relationship on and off the field. Before becoming the Soul's head coach in 2013, Dolezel served as the team's offensive coordinator. Since then, the two have had one Arena Bowl appearance, two conference championships, and three playoff appearances. The quest for an Arena Bowl title together has never been clearer.
"I think having gone through what Dan is currently going through and being able to relay my experiences as an AFL player is a difference maker," said head coach Clint Dolezel. "We're both proud Texas boys and the biggest compliment I can give him is that he has thick skin. He has come a long way in his career, both on and off the field."
Dolezel was a 2012 AFL Hall of Fame inductee. In his 13-year playing experience he finds himself amongst the all-time leaders in passing yards (No. 3 with 44,564), touchdown passes (No. 2 with 931), passing attempts (No. 4 with 5,698), and completions (No. 4 with 3,749). He was also named the No. 8 top player in AFL history by the Silver Anniversary Committee in 2012. Dolezel played with a total of six different teams from 1995-2008. In 2001 he led the Grand Rapids Rampage to an Arena Bowl championship in front of a sell-out crowd.
Raudabaugh has started his fifth year in the league strong, winning the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game for the first seven weeks. He joined the Soul in 2012 and is in the act of creating a record of his own. So far this season, he leads the league in passing yards and touchdowns. He has not thrown under five touchdowns this season. Dolezel compliments him for taking criticism well and being a veteran role model for younger players.
Dolezel is the only quarterback in League history to record six 400-yard games and three 11 touchdown performances in a career. Raudabaugh has seasons to go before catching up to his head coach's impressive statistics. Both look to make 2015 a season to remember and are quite the dynamic duo while doing so.
