Dylan Mecham Wins TCL Player of the Week

The Texas Collegiate League announced its weekly award winners Tuesday afternoon, and the Player of the Week Award went to East Texas' own Dylan Mecham.

Mecham batted a league-high .667 (8-for-12) over a four-game span, with two RBI and two runs scored. He also drew three walks, which boosted his on-base percentage north of .700 for the week. He posted three multi-hit games during the Pump Jacks' homestand, capped by a 3-for-4 night last Sunday, helping East Texas to its third consecutive win at Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark.

Mecham's four-game tear brought his season batting average up to .458, and his on-base percentage has risen to nearly .600. He also hasn't gone down on strikes since the Jacks' June 7 contest with the Brazos Valley Bombers.

Defensively, Mecham has been nothing short of extraordinary. He's started 10 games at second base, and a game at third, and has yet to commit an error.

Mecham spent the spring at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona alongside Pump Jacks' shortstop Anthony Donovan. As a freshman, he collected 18 hits and knocked in 12 runs in 29 games.

If weather allows, the Pump Jacks will square off with the Texas Marshals Wednesday night.

The Jacks return home Thursday and Friday for a two-game series against the Victoria Generals. These will be the last two home games before Father's Day, so come celebrate dad with a visit to Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark!
