Dutchmen Clinch Playoff Berth

Albany Dutchmen News Release


It took until the final day of the regular season, but the Dutchmen clinched a PGCBL Playoff birth for the 3rd consecutive season by beating Glens Falls on Thursday night, 7-1. The Dutchmen enter the PGCBL Playoffs as the #3 seed in the East Division. If the Dutchmen win tonight at Mohawk Valley, they will play at home on Sunday, August 2nd. Here is the full 2015 PGCBL Playoff schedule:

East Division Semi-Finals (One Game Playoff)

Friday, July 31st: #3 Albany at #2 Mohawk Valley

East Division Finals (Best of 3 Game Series)

Saturday, August 1st: #2/#3 Winner at #1 Amsterdam

Sunday, August 2nd: #1 Amsterdam at #2/#3 Winner

Monday, August 3rd (if necessary): #2/#3 Winner at Amsterdam

Tuesday, August 4th: Off Day

PGCBL Championship (Best of 3 Game Series)

Wednesday, August 5th: Highest Seed at Lowest Seed

2015 Dutchmen Player & Pitcher of the Year

IF Mike Fitzsimmons (Ole Miss): Playing in 47 of the Dutchmen's 49 games, Fitzsimmons hit .301 (49/163) and drove in a Dutchmen single season record 36 RBI. He also smacked 16 doubles and scored 25 runs.

RHP Nick Cioffi (Towson): In 8 starts (9 appearances) on the mound for the Dutchmen, Cioffi recorded a miniscule 1.67 ERA in 59.0 IP, posting a 5-1 record. He held opposing batters to a .181 BA and struck out 52 hitters. His ERA was good for 7th lowest in PGCBL history and he recorded the 4th lowest opponent batting average in the history of the league.
