Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX 4/10/09 - The Amarillo Dusters will be looking for their first win on the season as they travel to south Texas to take on the Corpus Christi Sharks Saturday night at 7:05 PM.
Amarillo will look to new starting quarterback Collin Drafts to run the Dusters' offense Saturday. Drafts compiled a 27-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio last season with the Green Bay Blizzard of the af2, and has two years of league experience under his belt. The Dusters' offense has struggled over the first two games, scoring just 26.5 points per game.
Corpus Christi, meanwhile, has also started the season 0-2, as the Sharks have experienced similar offensive troubles. The third-year team has averaged just 23.5 points per game, including a 14-point output against Bossier-Shreveport last week.
The Dusters will welcome two new faces to the lineup Saturday. Amarillo native T.J. Nickleberry, with the team during training camp, will re-join the Dusters in time to take the field Saturday at defensive end. Also, the Dusters added Maurice Lane-a four-year standout at Baylor-to bolster their defensive backfield.
Fans can tune in to coverage of the game on 107.1 KPUR-FM in Amarillo, and can watch the contest via a free webcast through af2TV. Go to www.dustersfootball.com for more information.
