Amarillo Venom News Release

AMARILLO, TEXAS The Amarillo Dusters have been looking forward to meeting the Talons at home since they left Tulsa after their first game of the season. The Dusters never backed down, handing No. 1 ranked Tulsa their second loss of the season and their first division loss.

"It was great to see all of our hard work pay off at this game," said head coach Chris MacKeown. "We knew what we had to do coming into this game, and we accomplished what we wanted to accomplish."

Amarillo maintained control throughout the game. They lost the lead only once and regained it quickly with a 28-yd touchdown pass from QB Julian Reese to WR Jim Lukowiak.

The Dusters had 23 first downs to the Talons 10. Amarillo also controlled the ball on offense, with a possession time of almost 40 minutes to Tulsa's 20 minutes.

"We made big plays when we needed big plays, both on offense and defense," MacKeown said. "It was really a team effort."

Julian Reese even played on both sides of the ball in the second half, playing quarterback on offense and linebacker on defense.

The Dusters now have a week to recuperate as they head into the bye week. The team will then travel to Tri-Cities, Washington to take on the Tri-Cities Fever on July 14. They return to the Amarillo Civic Center Arena for the last home game of the season on Monday, July 21 for Fan Appreciation Night, sponsored by Coors.

Tickets to the final game start at just $16. To reserve the best seats for Fan Appreciation Night, call the Dusters Box Office at 806.350.7277, visit www.dustersfootball.com , or stop by any Panhandle Tickets outlet.
