Dusters' Donte Newsome Awarded The Schutt Offensive Player Of The Week

AMARILLO, TEXAS The arena football 2 league office announced today the league Players of the Week for Week 4. Amarillo's Donte Newsome was chosen as the Schutt Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings.
"Donte is such a tremendous all-around athlete," said Dusters head coach, Chris MacKeown. "He has exceptional quickness for his size and is intelligent on the field."
Newsome led in rushing yards for the Dusters with 13 carries for 22 yards and 5 touchdowns. He scored two of those touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and two in the 3rd quarter. His final touchdown in the fourth quarter with only 12 seconds to go in the game sealed the win for the Dusters.
Newsome was one of the top performers in the af2 this week, placing first for his impressive number of rushing touchdowns.
"When I first saw Donte's film in the off-season, I knew he would be perfect in this position," MacKeown said, " and he hasn't disappointed."
MacKeown said that the amazing thing is that he did it all with a spider bite that caused his arm to swell and gave him a temperature of 104.
The Dusters have been recognized with league awards for two weeks out of the first four weeks of the regular season.
"It is an honor for our organization to have players recognized as Players of the Week on the league level," said vice president, Joe Morgado. "Being recognized for multiple weeks is even better."
The Dusters will be on the road again this week, traveling to Arkansas to take on the Twisters. They will return home on May 3 to battle the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. Tickets are on sale now.
