Dusters defeat the Dawgz 58-21

AMARILLO, TEXAS- The Dusters hosted the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz on May 3, 2008 for Go Green night. The Dusters continued their at home win streak by defeating the Dawgz 58-21.

The Dusters dominated the first quarter, starting with a 38 yard field goal by kicker Jacob Felton. QB Julian Reese connected with WR Jim Lukowiak for a 33 yard touchdown and a four yard touchdown. The Dawgz remained scoreless in the first quarter.

Oklahoma City got on the board with their first touchdown of the night when QB Josh Stewart found WR Keaton Graham in the endzone for a 40 yard touchdown reception. The Dusters answered with a 34 yard touchdown catch by WR Jason Anderson and a touchdown run by Donte Newsome.

The Dusters controlled the third quarter on the scoreboard, with a touchdown each by Jim Lukowiak and Jason Anderson. Dusters DB Terick Thomas kept the Dawgz from scoring when he intercepted a pass in the endzone. The Dawgz returned the favor later in the quarter by picking off a Julian Reese pass in the endzone.

The fourth quarter found the Dawgz struggling to make up some ground on the Dusters. Both teams played will defensively and neither team scored until late in the quarter. The Yard Dawgz QB Josh Stewart ran in a touchdown to give the team their second score of the night. Dusters QB Joel Steele, who suffered an injury in the first game, took his first game snaps since opening week and scored a touchdown of his own. The Dawgz never gave up and scored one more time as Josh Stewart found WR Chris Archie in the endzone at the end of the game.

Schutt Offensive Player of the Game, Amarillo's Jim Lukowiak, had seven catches for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Donte Newsome of Amarillo was awarded the JLS Ironman of the Game after his great plays on both sides of the ball for the Dusters. Aaron Williams of Amarillo was awarded the ADT Defensive Player of the Game. Amarillo's Jason Anderson caught a touchdown pass that earned him the Cutter's Catch of the Game. Anderson had nine catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

The Dusters will be at home again next week, taking on the Lubbock Renegades in another rivalry arena football game. The game theme is Ladies/ Breast Cancer Awareness Night. The Dusters will be wearing special edition jerseys provided by Britkare Home Medical to be auctioned off at the end of the game with proceeds benefiting the Children's Miracle Network.
