Drive Win 113-103 Over Chicago, Move to 11-0

Central Illinois Drive News Release


Chicago, IL, 2/23/12 - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, moved to 11-0 with after a 113-103 victory over the Chicago Muscle on the road Thursday night. The Drive pulled out the win even though they blew a 16 point lead in the final quarter. Perry Petty led the team with 27 points. He made 4 of 7 three-point baskets and had 6 rebounds.

Todd Peterson had 21 points and made 6 of 11 three-pointers. The Drive shot 51.32%. They made 15 of 31 three-point shots and 21 of 31 free throws.

Central Illinois came out offensively in the 1st and quickly doubled up the Muscle 21-11. It was obvious that the team was on their game. Todd Peterson led the attack with 10 points in the quarter.

The Drive led 31-22 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The 2nd quarter was more balanced as the Drive only outscored Chicago 29-26. The Muscle had not contained the Drive much better than in the 1st but they were able to keep up offensively. At half time the Drive led 60-48. Perry Petty had 16 points. Josh Edmonds was on his way to a nice game with 12 points. He would finish with 17 points.

The 3rd quarter was much like the 2nd.

The Muscle were once again not able to slow the offense of Central Illinois, but they were able to keep up and stay in the game. Chicago outscored the Drive 32-31 in the quarter. The Drive led 91-80 entering the final quarter of play.

In the 4th the Muscle came out firing with a 14-2 run, erasing their deficit and giving Chicago a 94-93 lead. The Drive were able to go on a 7-2 run of their own and get their feet back under them.

Central Illinois got the lead back and took home the win despite the late scare.

Box score he Drive will once again play Chicago on the road on Saturday. The two will play at the Wisconsin Dells at 5 pm at Just a Game Fieldhouse.
