Drive to Play Indiana Diesels Saturday and Sunday

Central Illinois Drive News Release


Bloomington, IL, 2/2/12 - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will play the Indiana Diesels twice this weekend. On Saturday the Drive will play at Indiana at 3:00 pm central time.

Then on Sunday the two will play in Bloomington at 2:05 pm. The two will not play again until March 24 in Bloomington.

The Drive and Diesles played a nail biter last Sunday in Indiana. The Drive won the game 87-84 but they blew a 21 point lead along the way. Central Illinois spent the first three quarters building on what seemed to be an insurmountable lead. Everything was going their way. Coach AJ Guyton had even put some bench players in throughout the game to rest tired starters. But everything seemed to fall apart in the final quarter. Indiana went on a 11-0 run that almost doomed the Drive. In the end Central Illinois hung on to stay perfect at 6-0. Indiana sits at 1-4.

The continuing winning streak is not the only news for the Drive. Head Coach AJ Guyton was named PBL Coach of the Month of January. It is no surprise as he has led the Drive to a perfect 6-0 start in the team's inaugural season. The team has done a good job of spreading the offense around and playing tight defense. The combination has been a recipe for success for Central Illinois. Desmond Holloway of the Sauk Valley Predators won Player of the Month, while the Predators won Team of the Month.

Sunday is not only a Drive game day, it is Super Bowl Sunday. Fans can come early to celebrate the day with the Drive.

For $10 fans get to come to the Drive Tailgate at 12:30 with all you can eat food, a ticket to the Drive/Diesels game at 2:05 pm, a free ticket to the Bloomington Edge home opener, a chance to meet Edge players and coaches, watch pre-Super Bowl coverage on TV, Fun on the Run kids interactive football inflatables, and a chance to win a flat screen TV. It's a great way to spend the day before the Patriots and Giants faceoff in Super Bowl XLVI.

The Drive are back in action at home on Saturday Feb. 11 when they take on the St. Louis Phoenix at 7:05 pm. It is the third meeting of four between the two teams and the Drive are 2-0 against St. Louis this year. It will also be plunger giveaway night.
