Drive to Play Final Regular Season Home Games Friday and Saturday

Central Illinois Drive News Release


Bloomington, IL, 3/21/12 - The Central Division Champion Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will finish their home regular season this weekend. On Friday night at 7:05 they will take on the 3-11 St. Louis Phoenix. Then on Saturday afternoon at 1:05 the Drive will play the 3-12 Indiana Diesels. The Drive are 16-1 on the season and have won all previous games played against these two opponents.

Last Saturday the Drive beat the Indiana Diesels 133-81 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The 52 point differential was the largest for Central Illinois this season. Early in the game both teams exchanges offense but the Drive force Indiana mistakes and capitalized. Jemal Farmer scored his highest point total of the season with 26. Todd Peterson had 19 points. He made 6 of 9 three-point shots and had 9 rebounds. The Diesels have not played since Saturday and will not until they play the Drive this weekend.

The St. Louis Phoenix lost a close one last Sunday as they were beat 102-100 at home by the Sauk Valley predators.

They went up 26-20 in the opening quarter and both teams added 25 points in the second. In the third the Predators outscored the Phoenix 36-16 and took the lead 81-67. St. Louis almost came back with a 33-21 fourth quarter but it wasn't enough. Corey Hill led scoring led scoring and had a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Lonnell Johnson had 22 points.

The Drive finish up the regular season in Chicago next Friday as they take on the Muscle at 1:05 pm. The Muscle are 8-8 with four game remaining, three before the matchup with the Drive.
