Drive to Play Chicago Muscle on Thursday

Bloomington, IL, 2/14/12 - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will square off with the Chicago Muscle at home on Thursday at 7:05 pm. It is the second meeting of five between the two teams. Central Illinois beat the Muscle 113-79 at home on Jan. 14. Rodney Edgerson had 25 points in the game, making 4 of 7 three-pointers and 5 of 7 free throws.

The Drive are coming off their biggest point total of the season. They beat the St. Louis Phoenix 130-109 on Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The Phoenix actually led the game 10-2 early, but the Central Illinois came back with a 40 point 2nd quarter. Rodney Edgerson led the scoring with 20 points and Anthony Slack followed with 17. The Drive had eight players in double digits. Edgerson leads the Drive with 17.22 points per game.

Chicago fell to the Sauk Valley Predators 120-97 at home on Feb. 3. Though the Muscle were able to keep it close for a while the Predators led the whole way. Marcel Anderson led the Muscle with 28 points, making 3 of 6 three-pointers and 13 of 17 free throws.

Rico Hill also had 22 points. Anderson leads the team with 16.43 points per game.

The last time these two teams played Drive Coach AJ Guyton said that Chicago is a very good defensive team. If that holds true in this week's matchup then it will be a challenge for Central Illinois.

The Drive are seen as an offensive team and have been countered in different ways. St. Louis tried to speed the game up last week and it turned into a shootout for a period. Then the Drive took off. Chicago on the other hand will attempt to slow things down and calm the Drive offense.

The Drive are on the road Saturday as they take on the Sauk Valley Predators at 6:30 pm. The Predators are 6-3 and in second place in the Central standings.
