Central Illinois Drive News Release
Bloomington, IL, 3/15/12 - The Central Division Champion Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will play the Indiana Diesels Saturday night at home at 1:05 pm. It will be St. Patrick's Day and Cap Day for fans so the atmosphere should be extra exciting. The game is the fourth meeting of five between the two teams. The Drive won the first three and the final game will be next week. The Drive are 15-1 on the season while the Diesels are 3-11.
Central Illinois had been perfect coming into last week. They were 15-0 and one win from tying the PBL all time winning streak. But then they ran into the Sauk Valley Predators. Sauk Valley almost knocked off the Drive a couple weeks ago in Bloomington but the Drive came back to win that game in overtime. Last week the two teams got into a shootout at Sauk Valley. Both teams kept trading leads and eventually the Predators had a slim lead with little time remaining. The Drive ended up losing 88-87. Perry Petty had 22 points while Anthony Slack had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
It was the first loss in franchise history. Now the Drive need to get right back up and get back to their winning ways. It was not a bad game so there is nothing to be too worried about. With only four games before the playoffs and the Division title already clinched, the Drive can brush off the loss and keep playing with confidence. Just be ready for Sauk Valley in the playoffs.
After losing a season high five straight games, the Indiana Diesels broke that stretch with a 109-96 home victory over St. Louis. Indiana led after each quarter and were able to finish with the much needed win. David Inabnit scored 46 points. Derek Huffman had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.
The Drive are at home next weekend as they take on the St. Louis Phoenix Friday at 7:05 pm and the Indiana Diesels Saturday at 1:05 pm. Saturday is the final home game of the regular season.
