
Drive Defeate St. Louis 130-109 to Stay Perfect

Bloomington, IL - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, extended their so far perfect record to 9-0 as they defeated the St. Louis Phoenix 130-109. It was the highest point total in a game for the Drive. Rodney Edgerson led the Drive with 20 points and Anthony Slack had 17. The Drive shot 60.44% and were 6 for 20 from three point range. Central Illinois made 14 of 21 free throws.
St. Louis set the pace early with a 10-3 run to start the game. The Drive came back to stay with them capitalizing on some breaks and good shot opportunities in order to keep the game close. The Phoenix led 27-23 after the opening quarter and the tone seemed to be set for a back and forth offensive showdown.
The Drive one-upped the St. Louis' early success as they started the 2nd quarter with a 14-2 run to put them on top. Anthony Slack made key plays in the comeback and had 11 points in the half. The Drive really turned the game around with a 40 point half and finished up 63-46.
The 3rd quarter was a little more balanced as the Drive tried to turn their attention to defense. With the big lead they knew that if they played well the rest of the way the game would be theirs. Josh Edmonds hit a basket as time expired and Central Illinois ended the 3rd up 90-70.
Central Illinois kept on in the final quarter as the offense continued. Josh Edmonds scored 9 consecutive points going back to the 3rd quarter. He ended up with 13 for the game. The Drive would hold onto the big lead and eventually extend their perfect record.
The Drive are at home Thursday Feb. 16 as they take on the Chicago Muscle. The Drive are 1-0 against Chicago this season. The game is the second meeting of five between the two teams.
