Drive Defeat Chicago Muscle 125-81, Stay Perfect

Bloomington, IL, 2/16/12 - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, beat the Chicago Muscle 125-81 and improved to 10-0. Perry Petty had a triple-double with 19 points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists. Todd Peterson had 17 points and 5 three pointers. Rodney Edgerson also had 15 points. ISU alum Rico Hill of Chicago had 10 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Darius Gant had 12 points and 16 rebounds. The Drive shot 48.78%.

They went 15-32 from three-point range and were 30-40 from the free throw line.

The game started with a somewhat defensive pace. Both teams tried to be responsible with the ball and to keep their opponents from getting too far out in front. For a while Chicago was able to hold the Drive at bay. But things changed and the Drive stepped on the gas.

Perry Petty's 11 points led the Drive to a 37-15 lead at the end of the quarter.

In the 2nd quarter the Drive started with a 9-2 run. Chicago's two points were scored at the free throw line. They kept the offense coming with a 28 point half and capped it with a Matt Salley breakaway dunk. The Drive ended the half up 65-29.

The Muscle started the second half strong with a 9-2 run of their own. Chicago seemed to be more offensive minded as they attempted to come back from the large deficit. Once again they were able to keep the Drive in check for a while, but not entirely. The Drive would go into the final quarter up 89-55.

In the 4th Chicago's frustration boiled over as their normally responsible play turned into bad fouls and aggressive play. With the big lead the Drive focused on defense and taking good shots.

They would eventually wrap up the win.

Box score he Drive are on the road Saturday as they take on the Sauk Valley Predators at 6:30 pm. The Predators are 6-3 and in second place in the Central standings.
