Grand Rapids Drive News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Drive, the Official NBA G League Affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, announced a trade with the Sioux Falls Skyforce earlier today. Per the terms of today's trade, the Drive have agreed to send the returning player rights to Raphiael Putney to the Sioux Falls Skyforce in exchange for Sioux Falls' own 2018 1st round pick (#13 overall) and the returning player rights to Matt Williams Jr.
Matt Williams Jr. played his collegiate ball at the University of Central Florida from 2012-2017. The 6'5 guard then played for the Miami Heat's Summer League team after going undrafted in 2017. Following the 2017 Summer League, Williams signed a Two-Way Contract with the Heat and competed in 43 games with Sioux Falls during the 2017-18 season.
Grand Rapids had received the returning player rights to Raphiael Putney from the Erie BayHawks in a three-team trade earlier this month.
The 2018 NBA G League Draft will take place October 20, 2018.
The 2018-19 NBA G League season starts November 2, 2018. The Drive's full schedule can be found at NBAGrandRapids.com.
