Bloomington, IL, 4/6/12 - The Central Division Champion Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will play the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers in game 2 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday night at 7:05 pm. With their big win in game 1, the Drive are one win away from advancing to the Championship Series.

The Drive took a 1-0 lead in the best of three series against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers Thursday night. The Drive beat the Steamers at Scranton Wilkes-Barre by a score of 132-103 and won their first ever playoff game. Anthony Slack led the team with 25 points and got a double-double with 11 rebounds. Todd Peterson was not far behind with 24 points with 6 three-point baskets and 6 rebounds. Daniel Ruffin had 15 points while Jemal Farmer and Mike Malat both had 12. The team shot 49% overall and made 17 of 37 three-point shots. They were 17 for 30 at the free throw line. It was a close game early on but as things progressed, the Drive ran away with it.

This season is the inaugural season for the Drive and they just played their first ever playoff game. Like opening night they had some team firsts. Jemal Farmer had the first points in Drive playoff history with a layup. Farmer also made the first playoff free throw for the Drive. Todd Peterson made the first three-point basket and was credited with the first rebound. At the end on the night the Drive had their first playoff win. Their first regular season points came in an odd manner. The Drive opened at the St. Louis Phoenix who were waiting for their home shorts. The game was delayed and the Drive were awarded two technical foul free-throws.

Todd Peterson made both and recorded the first point in Drive history on those two shots.

With one more win the Drive will advance to the PBL Championship series against the Rochester RazorSharks or Sauk Valley Predators. Should the Drive fall Saturday night the deciding Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at 7:05 pm at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
