Drive Beat Indiana Diesels 104-78, Still Perfect

Central Illinois Drive News Release


Bloomington, IL, - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, improved to 8-0 after beating the Indiana Diesels 104-78 at home. Rodney Edgerson led the scoring with 22 points and was 3-6 from three point range. Perry Petty had 20 points and 8 rebounds. The Drive shot 49.3% as a group and were 6-16 from three-point range.

Central Illinois continued a common theme in the opening quarter as they got out to an early lead. Jemal Farmer got the scoring started with a slam dunk from Nathan Fuqua for the first points of the game. The Drive were able to hold a five or six point lead for the entire quarter and ended leading 21-16.

Things kept rolling in the 2nd quarter as the Drive outscored the Diesels 25-9 including a 17-5 run. Rodney Edgerson capped things off with a breakaway dunk. At the end of the half the Drive led 46-25 and Perry Petty was on his way to a nice game with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Indiana shifted gears in the 3rd and tried to play tighter on defense. Although they did not slow the Drive much, the Diesels made fewer turnovers and were able to score more. The Drive ended the quarter up 75-51.

It was more defense in the 4th quarter. Both teams tried not to make mistakes and keep up with each other. Te Drive were able to stretch their lead to 30 points, the largest of the day, but the Diesels did not give up and got the offense going later in the quarter. The Drive kept with Indiana and were able to hold on for the win.

The Drive are back in action at home on Saturday Feb. 11 when they take on the St. Louis Phoenix at 7:05 pm. The Drive are 2-0 against St. Louis this year. It will also be plunger giveaway night.
