Kentucky Drillers News Release
The Eastern Kentucky Drillers put on a show against the Northern Kentucky River Monsters with outstanding performances by the offense and defense. This ¬ÅBattle of Kentucky ¬Â as it was being referred to, was rather one sided with the Drillers massacring the River Monsters 60-33. Drillers Quarterback, Allan Holland, had his most productive game of the season thus far, completing 20-35 passes, throwing for seven touchdowns and rushing for one. Holland is also the forth Driller to win Player of the Week honors. WR Matt Barbour had a breakout game with 10 catches for 137 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not to be outdone was WR Aric Evans, adding to his staggering season stat line with 7 catches for 98 yards and 4 touchdowns. Evans also leads the league through three games with 11 total touchdowns. The Drillers defense virtually shut down Lorenzen and the potent River Monster offense. DL Robert Brown and Shawn Lewis had multiple sacks, while LB Zane Cooper, DB Jason Conner, and DB David Jones all had interceptions, one which Conner ran back for touchdown. The Drillers will visit the rival Huntington Hammer for another battle of the Coal Cup in Huntington, West Virginia this Friday, March 18th at 7:30pm in Big Sandy Superstore Arena. Driller fans, we encourage you to make the trip and cheer on your team to another victory!
