Drillers set 2007 schedule

The Tulsa Drillers will begin the 2007 Texas League season with a 6-game homestand at Drillers Stadium with the season opener scheduled for Thursday, April 5 when the Drillers will host the San Antonio Missions. The initial homestand will include three games against the Missions April 5-8, followed by a three games against the Corpus Christi Hooks.

The Drillers will again play a 140-game Texas League schedule split into two 70-game halves. The second half of the schedule will begin on June 18.

The schedule has the Drillers playing nearly half (32 games) of their 70 home games on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. They will play at home on 11 Fridays and Sundays and on 10 Saturdays.

The 2007 home schedule includes 10 home games in April, 15 in May, 15 in June, 11 in July, 16 in August and three in September. It also includes five weekday, afternoon games and one morning game. Four of the afternoon games will be played on Wednesdays and one will be played on a Tuesday. The one morning game is scheduled for Friday, May 4 at 10:05AM. The early start is necessary to accommodate the annual Bedlam game between OSU and OU that will be played that evening at Drillers Stadium.

The standard starting times for Monday through Saturday home games will again be 7:05PM. Sunday games in April, May and June will have two different starting times. Three games will start at 2:05PM and three will begin at 4:05PM. Sunday games in July, August and September will all start at 6:05PM, except for the game on August 5 that will begin at 4:05PM.

There are no pre-scheduled doubleheaders, either at home or on the road, on the schedule this season.

The Drillers will conclude the 2007 season with a 7-game homestand. The final regular season contest will be on Labor Day on Monday, September 3 and will begin at 12:05PM.

The Drillers have also announced three additions to their front office staff. Andy Matson has joined the Drillers as a Group Ticket Sales Assistant, Dan Schwartz as an Operations Assistant and Brandon Shiers as a Ticket Sales Assistant.

Matson is a Tulsa resident and a graduate of Holland Hall and the University of Tulsa. He has recently worked in the TU Athletic Department.

Schwartz is from Mahopac, New York and a graduate of Albany University. He previously worked with the Auburn Doubledays, a minor league team in Auburn, New York.

Shiers graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He has recently worked with the Brainerd Blue Thunder in the collegiate Northwoods League.
