OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC defender Drew Beckie has been named to the NASL Team of the Week, the League announced Wednesday, following an impressive defensive performance in Saturday's 0-0 against the second place Tampa Bay Rowdies at TD Place. The draw earned Fury FC a vital point in the NASL standings and was the second shutout of the season for the club, both coming at TD Place - the first was the 1-0 win over Minnesota United FC in the home opener on April 18.
Beckie, who was also named Man of the Match, started the game in midfield, but was moved into the centre back position after an injury forced Rafael Alves out of the match. Alongside Colin Falvey, Mason Trafford and Ryan Richter Ottawa's back line limited the Rowdies to just two shots on goal.
The Regina, Saskatchewan native becomes the fourth member of Fury FC to be named to the NASL Team of the Week joining Romauld Peiser (Week 2), Rafael Alves (Week 3) and Tom Heinemann (Week 3).
