Seattle Sea Dragons News Release
The Seattle Sea Dragons debuted in their first home game at Lumen Field since the 2020 season where they took on the St. Louis Battlehawks for their Week 2 matchup. On the Sea Dragons first scoring drive, the offense orchestrated a 13-play, 61-yard drive to help K Dominik Eberle cash in a 29-yard field goal, giving the Sea Dragons an early 3-0 lead.
Heading into the second quarter, QB Ben DiNucci wasted no time and found WR Jahcour Pearson for a 54-yard strike, giving Pearson his first touchdown reception of the season and increasing the Sea Dragons lead to 12-0 following the successful 3-point conversion pass to Josh Gordon. The Battlehawks answered right back with an QB AJ McCarron 1-yard rushing touchdown to cap off their long 14-play, 72-yard drive, cutting the lead to 12-8 after a successful 2-point conversion pass to WR Marcell Ateman.
Going into the second half, both teams started off on the wrong foot after committing back to back turnovers respectively with a missed field goal by K Donald Hageman of the Battlehawks and a fumble by RB Morgan Ellison. Soon after the turnover by the Sea Dragons, Hageman tacked on three more points for the Battlehawks to trim the lead to 12-11.
As the fourth quarter rolled around, the Battlehawks forced another fumble on DiNucci, giving the ball right back to the Battlehawks. A couple series later, the Batthlehawks took their first lead of the game after AJ McCarron threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to WR Hakeem Butler, putting the Battlehawks up 17-12 following the missed 2-point conversion. The Sea Dragons looked to respond, but fell short after failing to complete a crucial fourth-down conversion. The Sea Dragons were given a chance to redeem themselves after a missed 50-yard field goal by Hageman where they capitalized off the turnover with an 8-yard touchdown pass from DiNucci to WR Jordan Veasy, giving the lead right back to the Sea Dragons at 18-17. On the final drive, the Battlehawks marched down the field and Hageman converted a 44-yard field goal to seal the second victory for the St. Louis Battlehawks.
The Seattle Sea Dragons will head to Las Vegas, Nevada next Saturday to take on the Vegas Vipers for their upcoming Week 3 matchup.
