In the fifth round of the 2016 NAHL Draft, the Minnesota Magicians went local by grabbing St. Paul Academy (SPA) forward Justin Jallen.
Orginally from Woodbury, Minnesota, Jallen played four years of varsity hockey for SPA of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), where he put up over 120 points in his career. This most recent season, he served as his team's captain and contributed 19 goals and 23 assists for a total of 42 points. He also led SPA to a fourth place finish at the 2016 Class A State Tournament.
Speaking about the drafting of Jallen, Magicians Head Coach and General Manager Scott Meyer said, "Justin is a skilled forward from SPA. He really opened our eyes in the NIT and other events this spring."
