Dr. Colby Young Joins Sin City Blackjacks' Medical Advisory Board

Sin City Blackjacks today announced that Dr. Colby Young has joined its Medical Advisory Board. This appointment coincides with the Sin City Blackjacks recent announcement that it is entering the Las Vegas market with its professional indoor football team and the American Indoor Football Association. Wendy Wood, MBA, Medical Consultant of the Sin City Blackjacks formed the Medical Advisory Board.

About Dr. Colby Young

Dr. Colby Young was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. After completing his high school training at the prestigious St. Xavier High School, he continued his studies at Northwestern University where he obtained his B. A. in Political Science. Dr. Young returned to Ohio for his medical school training after receiving a full academic scholarship to The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He was noted for his clinical excellence receiving honors and commendations in all aspects of his clinical training. Dr. Young was one of 20 medical students nationally to be awarded the Bristol-Myers Squibb National Medical Fellowship, a grant to pursue research in academic medicine.

After completing his surgical internship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Dr. Young's desire to serve the underprivileged and underserved took him to Los Angeles where he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Martin Luther King/ Charles R. Drew Medical Center. This gave Dr. Young extensive experience and invaluable comprehensive training in trauma and acute orthopaedic injuries. His interest in the care of the hand and upper extremity led him to Indianapolis, Indiana where he specialize in hand and microvascular surgery at the internationally renowned Indiana Hand Center. It was here that he received advance training in conditions affecting the upper extremity including arthritis, arthroscopy, congenital, sports, trauma, and work related injuries. While at the Indiana Hand Center Dr. Young was selected by Dr. Hill Hastings, the developer of a new elbow replacement, to assist in teaching the technique to orthopaedic surgeons at their learning center.

Dr. Young is nationally published in orthopaedic journals, has written numerous articles, as well as book chapters on issues affecting the orthopaedic patient. His work has been presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Young continues his academic pursuits in his private practice. He has recently published a book chapter for orthopaedic doctors caring for fractures of the wrist. And he has been selected as an AO Faculty member, an organization which continues physician's education in the fields of Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery.

Dr. Young served as hand consultant for the Las Vegas Gladiators professional football team and is a team physician for USA Boxing. He cares for athletes of UNLV athletic programs, UFC athletes, and professional athletes. Dr. Young brings with him the most up to date techniques and treatment of conditions affecting the upper extremity with a special interest in traumatic and sports injuries of the elbow, wrist, and hand.

The Sin City Blackjacks' Medical Advisory Board is comprised of prominent medical experts with expertise in multiple fields applicable to athletes and sports medicine. In addition to Dr. Young, the Medical Advisory Board consists of the following members:
