Doucet Brings Work Ethic To Bucks

LAREDO, Texas- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey league have announced the signing of Center Shawn Doucet, from Brock University (CIS) for the upcoming 2007-08 season.
Doucet, from Bathurst, New Brunswick, played two seasons at Brock, where he earned a spot on the OUA All-Rookie Team, as well as Badgers rookie of the year in 2005-06.
"Shawn has a great work ethic, and we are happy to see that", said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski, "He has great speed and a good touch around the net".
Last season Doucet played in 21 games for the Badgers, scoring five goals, with five assists, for 10 points, including three power-play goals and one short-handed goal.
During his award-winning freshman year at Brock, Doucet led the team in scoring, with eight goals, 17 assists for 25 points, to go along with four power-play goals.
Prior to playing collegiate hockey at Brock, Doucet spent four years at the junior level, three in the QMJHL, and one in the AJHL. In his junior career Doucet played 219 games, tallying 57 goals, with 71 assists, totaling 128 points.
The Bucks, who open training camp October 8th, have announced six player signings this off-season, Doucet, along with forwards Matt Summers, Corey Courchene, and Brent MacSween, center Andrew Dejardins, and defenseman Tyler Harder.
Laredo will begin their sixth season in the CHL on the road October 19th, with the home opener scheduled for Friday October 26th. The complete regular season schedule is expected to be released in early August. Keep checking www.laredobucks.com for updates.
