Saint John Riptide News Release
(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, are pleased to announce the 'Double-A' Basketball Skills Camp to be held August 2-4 from 9am to noon at Rothesay Netherwood School.
The camp will be run by the Mill Rats own star guard and leading scorer, Anthony Anderson, and his younger brother, NBA player Antonio Anderson.
Antonio Anderson started all four years for the basketball program at the University of Memphis for legendary coach John Calipari, and has had stints in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Charlotte Bobcats. In his junior year, he led Memphis to the NCAA title game while sharing the backcourt with the NBA's Most Valuable Player: Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls. Antonio was also named an NBA Development League All Star in 2010.
Anthony Anderson is currently completing his rehab on a strained Achilles tendon, which he suffered during the Mill Rats final game on March 31st in Halifax. Anthony was named first team All-League for his body of work last season as a Mill Rat, and was previously invited to tryout for the NBA's Indiana Pacers in 2008.
"Its an incredible opportunity to have players with NBA talent and an NBA pedigree right here in Saint John," explained Mill Rats Director of Camps and Clinics David Cooper. "The wealth of knowledge and experience these two brothers have in the game of basketball is tremendous. I wouldn't miss it!"
To register for the camp, please email hoops@millratsbasketball.ca
