
Dorsey's Equalizer Earns Sky Blue FC a Point at Portland in a 1-1 Draw

Portland, OR - Sky Blue FC (2-10-3, 9 points) earn a point at Portland after Imani Dorsey finds the back of the net in the 69th minute.
Portland opened up the match with a chance on goal in the 1st minute of play after a cross by defender Meghan Klingenberg was redirected off the head of forward Midge Purce just wide of the far-right post.
Sky Blue FC attempted to answer back with their own chance in the 5th minute. Caprice Dydasco stripped that ball from Portland near the corner flag and sent a cross in that was cleared out to the feet of Julie James Doyle. Doyle lined up the shot and just sent it wide of the right post.
Purce almost put the Thorns up on the scoreboard in the 8th minute. Thorns forward Caitlin Foord sent the into Purce in the box who collected it at a tight angle and sent the shot off the left post.
In the 11th minute, Elizabeth Eddy collected a pass from Imani Dorsey and dropped it off to Sarah Killion who took a crack at goal but sent the shot just over the crossbar.
Kailen Sheridan was called into action in the 17th minute to keep the Thorns off the scoresheet. Thorns captain Christine Sinclair played the ball through traffic into forward Haley Raso, who turned and took a shot towards the right post, but Sheridan made the diving save.
From the 25th minute to the 33rd minute Portland continued to threaten the Sky Blue backline with multiple shot attempts but all just going wide or over the goal.
Portland got on the scoresheet in the 38th minute after a penalty kick was awarded from a foul committed by Estelle Johnson. Sinclair stepped up the spot and hit the back of the net to put the Thorns up 1-0.
In the 68th minute, Sky Blue attempted to answer back with a goal but was denied by the left post. Set up in space on the left side, Killion sent the ball across to Gina Lewandowski running at the back post who headed the ball at goal only to be denied by the post and then cleared out.
Sky Blue FC tied the match up in the 69th minute after Imani Dorsey sent a low shot into the back of the goal. Eddy received the ball from Killion on the endline and sent her pass across the box to the top where Dorsey was wide open. With one touch, Dorsey sent the shot back at the far-right corner of the net to tie the game up at 1-1.
Sky Blue FC will be on the road as they face Utah on Wednesday, August 7th at 10 p.m. ET at Rio Tinto Stadium. Sky Blue will be back home at Yurcak Field to host the Chicago Red Stars for the club's Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 14th at 7 p.m. ET.
