Dodge City Law News Release
On Saturday, the Dodge City Law will travel to Wichita to take on the Wichita Wild, who won the inaugural CPIFL Championship last year.
The Law are looking to rebound from a crushing defeat two-weeks ago to the Oklahoma Defenders.
"Against Oklahoma, we fell apart in the second half. We didn't make any stops on defense or force any turnovers," Law Head Coach Sean Ponder said. "We made lots of mistakes throughout the game, especially on defense and special teams."
During the two weeks since the loss to Oklahoma, the Law have been trying to regroup and get ready for the Wichita game.
"We spent a lot of time in the film room making sure everyone understands all of our schemes and what their responsibilities are," Ponder said. "We've also been working a lot on special teams. As we saw against Oklahoma, it's important to be solid in every phase of the game. A mistake on special teams can cost you the chance to win a game."
After discussing and correcting their mistakes from the Oklahoma game, the Law set their sights on Wichita.
"The Oklahoma game was two-weeks ago," Ponder said. "We are focused on defeating the Wild right now. They are the defending CPIFL Champions and they're undefeated this year. They are going to do everything they can to protect their home field and stay undefeated."
"In order for us to succeed, we have to show up in Wichita ready to play and we have to bring our A-game," Ponder said. "We really have to play at our highest level for all four quarters because Wichita certainly has the talent to take capitalize on mistakes and put points on the board in a hurry."
