Schaumburg Flyers News Release

GARY, IN - RailCats starter Chris Jones tossed a complete game, two-hit gem, and Gary used another big first inning to top Schaumburg 5-1, completing a three-game sweep.

The first four men reached in the first inning against Flyers starter Dustin Glant, with the only out coming when Eric McNamee tried to extend a single into a double. A bases loaded groundout from Jordan Czarniecki brought home the first run, and Cristian Guerrero knocked a two-out single to center to give the RailCats a 3-0 lead after one.

Gary would add one more in the fourth when Mike Massaro doubled home Jeff Beachum who had singled and advanced to second on a Glant throwing error with two outs. The RailCats would tack on another run on a Guerrero double an inning later to make it 5-0.

Schaumburg broke a 17-inning scoreless streak in the seventh. Felix Jose reached on an error to start the inning and advanced to third on a Vince Harrison double. Craig Maddox then lofted a sacrifice fly to right, making it 5-1.

Gary's final run came off Joe Campbell in the eighth on a McNamee sac fly. Campbell pitched three innings in relief, allowing only one run on three hits and three walks.

All nine RailCats recorded at least one hit, with Guerrero leading the way on a 2-4 with three runs driven in. Massaro also went 2-4, scoring once and knocking in a run. Beachum chipped in a 3-4 day.

Travis Brown and Harrison accounted for the Flyers two hits.

Glant went five innings, allowing five runs on ten hits and taking the loss to fall to 5-3. Jones improves to 4-1 with the win, tossing the second RailCats complete game of the season, with the first coming only one week ago courtesy of Tony Cogan.

The Flyers will welcome the RailCats to Alexian Field for a four-game set, beginning Monday at 7:05 with Flyers LHP Alain Quijano (2-2, 5.58) opposing RailCats LHP Tom Thornton (7-3, 5.00).
