
Di Buono Selected to Canadian National Beach Soccer Team

Philadelphia, PA, April 23, 2009 - The Canadian Men's Beach Soccer Team announced KiXX defender Joe Di Buono was selected to the team's roster for the 2009 Confederation for North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Beach Soccer Championship. The 12-player team, coached by Ross Ongaro, will compete in a six-team tournament which runs from April 29 to May 3 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
In addition to Canada, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico and the United States will participate in the 2009 CONCACAF Championship with the top two teams qualifying for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009.
Di Buono appeared in 15 games for the KiXX this season, his first with Philadelphia, registering five points and 14 blocks. The Montreal native began his professional indoor career with the Milwaukee Wave in 2007 where he recorded 19 points and 14 blocks in 22 contests. Di Buono attended Robert Morris College and was a First-Team All-North East Conference selection.
The two-time Champion Philadelphia KiXX recently concluded their 13th season of play as a member of the National Indoor Soccer League (NISL). This season marked the last at the Wachovia Spectrum with the historic arena scheduled to be razed. The club is currently in negotiations with the Liacouras Center for the 2009-10 season and beyond.
