
Detroit Shock Single-Game Tickets On Sale April 5

Auburn Hills, MI - Single-game tickets for the Detroit Shock's ninth season of WNBA competition go on sale this Wednesday, April 5 at 10 a.m. and may be purchased in person at The Palace Box Office, by calling (248) 377-0100, logging on to www.DetroitShock.com, or at all Ticketmaster outlets. The Shock's 2006 regular-season schedule includes 16 home games at The Palace of Auburn Hills and a July 21 rematch of the 2003 WNBA Finals vs. Los Angeles at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena at 7:30 p.m.
"We're always looking for new ways to broaden our fan base and enhance the experience at The Palace," said President and CEO of Palace Sports and Entertainment Tom Wilson, "and one of the best ways to accomplish that is simply by listening to your fans. We have heard the fans, and now have nine unique reasons for Michigan-area basketball fans to embrace the Shock. Coupled with the championship-caliber team we will put on the court, 2006 promises to be an exciting season for Shock fans."

1) Reduced Ticket Pricing for Children and Seniors - Take advantage of $3 off discounts for children 12-and-under and adults 60 and older at every Shock home game at The Palace.
2) Home Away from Home Game - The Shock will play one of its 17 regular-season home games at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena.

9) Experience the Shock. It's Personal - Fans will have additional opportunities to get up close and personal with their favorite Shock players including post-game meet-n-greets and autograph sessions.
The Shock return five All-Stars from last season - Swin Cash, Cheryl Ford, Deanna Nolan, Ruth Riley and Katie Smith - and Cash has been given a clean bill of health from Detroit's medical staff. Kara Braxton picked up a year of international experience this offseason; Plenette Pierson will have a full training camp with the team; and Kedra Holland-Corn, a key member of Detroit's 2003 WNBA Championship team, was signed as a free agent in February.
Notable games on The Palace schedule this season include Detroit's home opener on Wednesday, May 24 vs. Minnesota; three-time league MVP Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Comets on Saturday, June 17; Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, July 6; and the 2005 WNBA Champion Sacramento Monarchs on Wednesday, July 26. The Shock end the 2006 season at home on August 13 against the two-time defending Eastern Conference Champion Connecticut Sun.
